Description:  The remains of the elevator siding in downtown are quite clear. As far as I know..J&J Farm services (the owners of the elevator) haven't shipped by rail in quite a while (going back to the C&O I would guess). The siding was removed a couple of years ago by the HESR.

Description:  HESR 8802 sits with a different cut of grain hoppers in downtown. I am guessing that the hoppers on the main are inbounds for the MAC elevator about a half mile east of this location (behind the loco and the cut of hoppers). This is the first time I have seen them split up the power to work the elevator.

Description:  The HESR's engine house at the foot of Irwin St. The HESR built this facility in the 1980's. The PM/C&O had an engine house here untill the 1970's..when it burned down. It sat behind this building and inside the wye.

Description:  This location was once known as "Huron"..where the PM-GTW connection was. The PM main and the connector that once led to the GTW's "Bad Axe Sub" and their wye is all that remains. The GTW removed their line in 1951. The HESR still uses this track (as well as the north leg of the GTW wye) to access their MOW facility on Soper Rd.

Stop
Title:  Stop
Description:  A simple gate, with a stop sign, protects the HESR diamond in Vassar. This crossing, once the crossing of the Michigan Central (NYC) and the PM, was protected by a tower (where the dead tree's are in the left side of the photo). It was later converted into an automatic interlocking. The interlocking lasted into the early 2000's before being shut down. The 2 metal posts, seen straight ahead on the former PM "Port Huron Subdivision" were for an overhead crane at the former Grede Foundry. Both the foundry, and the neighboring Means facility, are both closed.
